Above: This was one of my favorite tracks I got to play of the night. Sew tite.
Below: Here's 24 minutes of Steve and my Magical set from The Magic Message that went down a fortnight ago. The recording got fucked up and this is what we salvaged. Enjoy
So this past Friday was kinda awesome. I had the pleasure to play a friend and fellow disc jockey Brian's and his friend Oskar's birthday party. The jam went down at 2A in the East Village and Zika stopped by. Beforehand we ran into Blu Jemz over at East Village Radio right before Zika and I played some jams on Oskar's show Never Not Working. I couldn't have asked for anything more of a New York Friday night. The only hitch was that due to an amp with a temper, the music would cut out periodically, but the crowd was so dope, they kept on singing until the track came back on. It was a night of vinyl, disco, house and hip hop and even included a Nate Dogg tribute. Amazing. Wish you were there.
Okay, due to some happy coincidences, DJ Zika and I have had to change the name of our night from Midnight People to 'The Night Shift'. So hence forth, Wednesdays nights starting March 23rd will be known as such.
Now! I'm super excited about it because, well, this is the official official official (because I've teased at it so many times) announcement/blogpost.
THE NIGHT SHIFT
w/ DJ ZIKA & DJ Bruce & guests
2A (2nd St & Ave A)
East Village, NYC
And here's a special little treat so you can get a taste of what's in store (including but not limited to). This is a promotional mix, handmade by Zika and I.
And now, I'd like to introduce you to my friend DJ Zika whom you remember frompreviousposts. This is is ode to summer. It's in the 20's today, so this warm sounding mix makes it almost alright. This is probably one of the best mixes I've ever heard.
