Below are a list (or "collection" to be snooty) of my favorite DJ mixes... ever. All different genres, DJs from different eras and prominence from friends and disk jockeys I've never met. What makes a good mix for me is thoughtfulness. When you can tell the DJ is trying to create a specific mood and feeling that takes you all over emotionally. Hopefully this will give you a window into this world that I live in. Check it out:
- First I'll begin with a live mix from the WORK party at subMercer in NYC put on by my mans and them Lloydski and Eli Escobar. I picked this one because, well, I was there, and two, its fucking great.
- This next mix is one of my favorite of all time. It's Daft Punk's BBC Essential Mix from 1997. In my humble opinion, I believe this set the tone for every young DJ's essential mix to follow.
- When it comes to hip hop there are an endless supply of superior mixes, but the three of my favorites are:
Kid Kapri - 52 Beats (classic)
- Next are some electronic music gems:
- The next are some far out, amazingly mixed soundscapes that will remain on my iPod until the end of time.
(update) DJ Soul R&B Classics mix
Honorable mention which I can no longer find online:
Blade Runners - West Coast Classics
